Synopsis of Session Meeting

5 May 2009

 Membership Roll - 153 active members, 3 affiliate members, 58 baptized members

Worship Attendance – April average: 197 (April 2008: 119, did not include Easter)

 Discussion Items:

· FaFacility Rental - We have lost Jazzercise as a renter, but have pick up other one-time use – Indian Dance Workshop, Liberty Middle School parents’ meeting, Jansen Dance & theater productions

Continued discussion of potential capital campaign for debt reduction in first half of 2010.

 

Motions passed:

Approval of contract for weekly cleaning by Coverall Cleaning Systems for $375/month (currently $575/month) pending positive reference checks

Approval of formation of Yoga Ministry Group.

Approval of pastor’s vacation schedule (June 25-July 18), Church Administrator’s vacation (July 3-10) and Music Director (July 19).

 Discussion Items:

Need for continued evangelism efforts to introduce others to St. Andrew and ideas for same

Finances – Balance between annual ministry and mission budget, building fund and monthly mortgage payments.

Presbytery Meeting, May 28 – Major action items were the elimination of positions of Assoc. Exec. for              Mission, Susan Meier and Assoc. Exec. for Nurture, Mary McKey, and the reduction of mission giving, particularly Cedarkirk Camp and Conference Center and Beth-El Farmworker Ministry, in an effort to address the presbytery’s financial crisis.

 Motions Passed:

Approval of contract with Horizon’s Stewardship Company and Rev. Don Smith to conduct feasibility study and then, if appropriate, a capital campaign for debt reduction in the first half of 2010.

Guest preachers Sang Kim (July 5) and Doug McMahon (July 12) and to conduct a special offering in              support of Transfiguration Faith Community (PCUSA), a new church plant in St. Petersburg, where Doug is the organizing pastor.

Renewal of liability and property insurance with Covenant Presbyterian Insurance Program from 1 June 2009 to 31 May 2010. The new annual premium is $11,256.70, compared to $8,211.95 for 2008-09.
